Even if Honda has confirmed its withdrawal from the world of lawn mowers, the Japanese manufacturer remains very active in other sectors of activity, including that of marine engines. Although founded in 1964, Honda Marine unveils, for the first time in its history, a V8 outboard engine, the BF350. It was during the Genoa Boat Show in Italy that Honda Marine made the announcement.
With a displacement of 5 liters, the engine generates a power of 350 horsepower on 86 octane gasoline. Depending on its size and power, this outboard motor is intended for boats over 25 feet. Packed with technology, it opts for a VTEC (Variable Valve Timing & Lift Electronic Control) system in addition to a BLAST (Boost Low Speed Torque) mode which manipulates the air supply to optimize torque, particularly at low revs. As it is designed for large-sized boats, Honda adds cruise control as well as an ECO mode for journeys at constant speed.
The BF350 V8 is offered in two tones, aquamarine silver or grand prix white. It is also possible to add chrome accents for more distinction. The BF350 will make its first-ever North American debut in Tampa, Florida, October 3-5. As the maritime season draws to a close for 2023 in Quebec, buyers will be able to enjoy it next summer since sales will begin at the beginning of 2024. For the moment, the price of the BF350 has not been announced.
