Hyundai IONIQ 5 under the $50,000 mark? It’s over!
The very popular Hyundai IONIQ 5 will become substantially more expensive from 2023, as the manufacturer gets rid of the entry-level Essential version altogether. The new basic version thus becomes the Preferred version, and its retail price is $51,650. We therefore understand that an IONIQ 5 sold new for less than $50,000 is already a thing of the past.
More expensive, better equipped
By eliminating the old entry-level version from the range, last year’s mid-range version thus becomes the new basic version for 2023. The latter, the Preferred, is also equipped with a heat pump which makes it possible to produce heat by requiring less energy from the battery, something that was not found in the old basic version.
The price of the other marketed versions also increases for 2023, while the long-range Preferred version, which boasts a range of 488 kilometers, sees its price jump by $1,000, to $54,924. On the other hand, the latter does not benefit from any modification compared to 2022. The rear wiper is also still absent for all versions.
The more expensive Preferred AWD version doesn’t see its price increase as such ($56,924), but the Ultimate option package, which includes larger wheels and a more luxurious cabin, goes from 5,000 to 6 $000.
Which electric vehicles retail for less than $50,000?
For 2023, electric vehicles that retail for less than $50,000 are becoming increasingly rare. Vehicles under $50,000 are:
It should be noted, however, that other models will likely squeeze under that $50,000 mark for 2023, such as the Mazda MX-30, the Kia Niro EV or, perhaps, even the Kia EV6. As of this writing, however, only eight EVs will be sold domestically under $50,000 as 2023 model year models.
