South Korean automaker Hyundai showed off the first images of the next-generation Santa Fe mid-size SUV last week. True to its design-driven philosophy of change, its styling redirection is nothing short of spectacular.

Aware of the enthusiasm aroused by the Land Rover Defender and more recently by the Lexus GX, the designers adopted an angular retro-futuristic presentation.

The H-shaped front headlights add an element of originality to the presentation, as do the particularly low-placed H-shaped taillights. Interestingly, Hyundai states in its short press release that it has collected a lot of data on the latest outdoor trends to come up with this design.
