Mercedes Benz does not skimp on the integration of innovations and new technologies on board its cars. With each new product, the company pushes the limits, and it is still the case with the unveiling of the interior presentation of the E-Class 2024.
Mercedes-Benz starts stripping the new and 6e generation of its 2024 E-Class mid-size sedan. We don’t start with close-ups of the headlight units or a wheel, but with the entire dashboard. We take the opportunity to discover a new variant of the “Hyperscreen“, the “Superscreen”. It is less massive, but no less spectacular. The manufacturer also takes the opportunity to announce the integration of a host of possibilities in terms of application and technology.
The objective behind the “Super Display” is to make the experience for the driver and front passenger as immersive as possible. To do this, we renew the principles of the “Hyperscreen” with a large glass applique which covers, in this case, the central section and in front of the passenger. Within it, we include two screens similar to what we know from the “Hyperscreen”. In front of the driver, another screen invites itself. This configuration makes it possible to have a lower dashboard than with the “Hyperscreen”. It will have to be seen with use, but it is possibly an advantage in terms of visibility. The instrumentation will come with only two “moods” when it comes to graphic design: Sport or Classic.
So far, it’s almost basic. However, we offer a collection of new applications that can be integrated into the car, no need to switch to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Mercedes-Benz understands that work is done everywhere. Therefore, a camera is integrated at the top of the dashboard to be able to participate in virtual meetings on platforms like Zoom or Webex. Of course, the car must be stationary in the “Park” position. Also with this camera, it will be possible to make videos or take selfies. It will therefore be possible to share content directly on your TikTok account through the 5G connectivity on board. For entertainment, both of the driver at rest or of the passenger on the road, Mercedes-Benz adds apps like Vivaldi or ZYNC. The manufacturer even has agreements with around thirty different streaming platforms.
Mercedes-Benz is very much of its time with the integration of artificial intelligence. It is obviously still only summary, but the car will understand the habits of the driver in different situations, particularly those which are the most routine. For example, on cold days, the car will activate the heated seats and the usual favored temperature itself; we go further with the setting of the ambient lighting which will opt for a “warm” color. The opposite applies in the hot summer months. Speaking of mood lighting, it will be an important element in the immersive experience with gradual changes depending on driving and driving modes. In addition, these illuminating elements will be used to signal obstacles, in particular with the detection of blind spots or cross traffic.
Finally, on board the E-Class, Mercedes-Benz is renewing its partnership with equipment manufacturer Burmester for the development of the surround sound system. In this case, we are talking about 17 speakers and a 4D experience. Again, the ambient lighting will be able to follow the rhythm of the music if the driver wishes. The new generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be unveiled later this year with market launch expected before the start of 2024.
