Acura Performance EV
Presented in the form of a style study last August, the Acura Performance EV foreshadows the arrival of a brand new electric model in the fold of the Honda family. Unlike the ZDX and Honda Prologue which use General Motors foundations, this creation will be based on the first electric platform developed internally by the Japanese manufacturer. The crossover coupe profile projects a desire for dynamism, but we don't have anything technical to sink our teeth into at the moment.
Chevrolet Bolt
Here is one that has been playing secret since the announcement of a second generation in 2023. Never mind, this next Chevrolet Bolt, which should see the light of day this year, will be “barely more expensive” than the one that she replaces, confirmed in October 2024 the president of General Motors (GM), Mark Reuss. This is good news for electric motorists who want an affordable vehicle. An Ultium electrical architecture and a lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery should also support a gain in autonomy.
Hyundai Ioniq 9
Unveiled in November, the Ioniq 9 will top Hyundai's electric range in Canada from the second quarter of 2025. Equipped with a wheelbase of more than 3 m and a large 110.9 kWh battery, it has a range of up to 529 km in rear-wheel drive livery. Its three rows of seats will make it one of the rare electric proposals focused on larger families. We will have an idea of its price range in a few months. It will also be present at the Montreal Auto Show.
Electric Jaguar
Jaguar is currently undergoing a spectacular metamorphosis of which we had a preview in December 2024. The English brand will now rely on electric vehicles to stand out as well as on a more upscale positioning. The first model, a grand touring sedan with a range of almost 700 km, should see the light of day in 2025 with a design inspired by the Type 00 style study. An ambitious project which will be interesting to observe.
Jeep Wagoneer
Stellantis badly needs a competitive product to extricate it from the slump in which it is mired. Without being the savior, the Wagoneer S can be part of the solution. Powered by two electric motors producing a total of 600 hp and offering a range of 480 km, this first fully electric Jeep displays the dimensions of the mid-size SUV, much more realistic than the thermal livery of the model. The starting bid, however, is prohibitive at $93,485.
Kia EV3
Visually inspired by the EV9 mid-size SUV, this EV3 could well bring misfortune to Quebec if Kia adopts a competitive pricing strategy. Slightly shorter than a Niro at 4.3 m, it packs 58.3 kWh or 81.4 kWh batteries, depending on what was presented during the global unveiling a few months ago. We will have to wait to assess how the Canadian version will turn out.
Electric Range Rover
Without providing further details, JLR is continuing the grueling regime of testing in extreme climates ahead of the launch of its first electric Range Rover. We can bet that the absence of a thermal engine will make the driving experience even more refined in addition to offering a lot of torque instantly for the rare owners who venture onto steep trails.
Lucid Gravity
The second model in the history of the young American brand to see the light of day, the Gravity mid-size SUV has the potential to increase its sales substantially. Promising more than 700 km of autonomy depending on the livery and up to 800 hp of power, it will be able to tow 2700 kg (5952 lb). It is currently unknown when it will be offered in Canada precisely, but Lucid confirms that it will be on display at the Montreal Auto Show.
Vinfast VF 7
Presenting a length practically identical to that of a Honda HR-V, but with a longer wheelbase, the Vinfast VF 7 could well help the Vietnamese manufacturer to attract a wider clientele to its showrooms. Marketed from 2025 in the country, it will be equipped with two mechanical configurations, one with 201 hp traction and the other with 348 hp all-wheel drive. A 75.3 kWh battery will supply them with energy, but we do not currently know what the autonomy and the bill associated with this new model will be.
