Jeep will gradually increase its electric footprint
Sign that Stellantis wants to make a clear break with an FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) which believed little in the electric thing, it is now the turn of Jeep to present the main lines of its electrification plan.
The adventurous brand will gradually introduce four fully electric SUVs into its range by 2025 and is targeting a family of models without internal combustion engines in Europe by 2030. The target is more modest in the United States (and presumably for our market) while 50% of the models offered will still have a gasoline engine.
One of the first electric creations marketed in North America will be the Jeep Recon, the technical details of which have not been presented. A photo unsurprisingly exposes Jeep’s desire to preserve its off-road image with its removable doors, roof and windshield. His arrival is scheduled for 2024.
Jeep will also offer an electric version of its Wagoneer with 600 hp and a range of 644 km. Again, we’ll have to wait until 2024 to see it in dealer showrooms across the country.
At the same time, the brand plans to increase the number of models offered with plug-in hybrid powertrains. For now, only the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee are equipped with this technology ensuring a handful of electric kilometers.
