Lamborghini Aventador: The end of the road

The Lamborghini Aventador comes to the end of its journey with the unveiling of the LP-780-4 Ultimae. Lamborghini will assemble 600 copies, 350 coupes and 250 roadsters.

While Lamborghini usually plays eccentricity, it’s more of a sense of reserve that emanates from this latest iteration of the Aventador. It remains a Lamborghini in its approach with its sharp angles, but we do not go overboard.

The Ultimae is distinguished by a bumper which is unique to it, but which ensures the link with the rest of the family through the configuration of its aerodynamics and the integration of flaps for engine cooling. The air management theme continues with the front and side skirts designed to steer air movement away from the wheel arches.

Of course, at the rear bumper, the diffuser takes up the approach of the Centenario with vertical bands that control the wind return under the vehicle. As it should be for a Lamborghini, the rear spoiler is active and deploys in three different positions depending on the driving mode: closed, maximum performance or maximum maneuverability.

Inside, the changes are only aesthetic with the “Ultimae” embroidery on the lumbar supports. A touch that collectors will love is the production number of each car inscribed on the A pillar. For the rest, we always find the very dynamic presentation specific to Lamborghini.

Under the hood, there is a little more action. We discover the powerful 6.5-liter V12. Its power is increased to 770 horsepower at 8,700 rpm, and its torque to 531 lb-ft. We are talking here about 10 more horses than the SVJ. As usual, this mechanical monster is mated to an automated 7-speed manual gearbox. With the standard integral, it completes 0 to 100 km / hour in 2.8 seconds and can reach a top speed electronically limited to 255 km / hour.

The unveiling of the Ultimae also marks a very important moment in the history of the brand. Not only is this the end of the road for the Aventador, but it is also the end of the road for the V12 engine. In its time, Lamborghini will renew itself and use engines of smaller displacement but assisted by electric. According to the manufacturer, the performance will be even more exciting.
