Land Rover | The latest generation of Range Rover unveils itself
Far behind us are the days when the Range Rover was virtually alone in its luxury SUV segment. The actors have multiplied, bringing with them different interpretations. The British icon now wants to reinvigorate itself with a fifth generation that wants to be less anachronistic thanks to its platform capable of electrifying itself.
But, while waiting for the arrival of this first all-electric livery, scheduled for 2024, the model takes its first steps on a brand new MLA-Flex chassis allowing two wheelbase lengths, according to the tastes of the buyers. However, you have to have a keen eye to see the aesthetic evolution of the SUV, which retains its trapezoidal grille high enough, but lined with thinner optics. It is especially the rear part that exhibits the most marked difference with its coated typographic hook acting as lighting.
Moreover, the Canadian version is equipped with a mild hybrid group consisting of a turbocharged 3L in-line six-cylinder producing 395 hp. A second optional engine will also make its debut, a twin-turbo 4.4 L V8 supplied by BMW whose power is increased to 523 hp. Land Rover also promises a plug-in hybrid version with a range of around 100 km.
Like the big luxury players, this Range Rover will integrate a new electronic architecture allowing constant remote updates to improve the functioning of the components. It also adds to its technological arsenal a new 13.1-inch floating touchscreen allowing access to the latest generation of the Pivi Pro infotainment system from the Jaguar Land Rover Group.
Available on order now for an entry price of $ 126,400.
