Setting the goal with a look full of trust and dressed in a sumptuous black suit, Lewis Hamilton gave us an iconic photo during his first visit to Maranello last January. New Ferrari driver, the seven -time World Formula 1 champion also chose to place an F40 just behind him. It was anything but a coincidence.
Latest creation of the brand approved by the founder Enzo Ferrari before his death in August 1988, this automotive legend which paved the path for the most efficient modern Ferrari has a special place in the heart of the British pilot. He now wants the manufacturer to build a modern interpretation.
In an interview with the specialized Motorsport.com site, Hamilton said it wanted to work on the design of a car that would be called F44 – in reference to its number – and endowed with a manual transmission for, no doubt, the rigor of the tribute and the sensory aspect of driving.
Ferrari did not confirm anything in this sense, but if the project was to hatch, Hamilton said he wanted to work on this conception “in the coming years”. It should be noted that the brand has not produced a manual transmission model since 2012. The option was then only offered on California.
While the value of old supervisions with manual transmissions remains extremely high, a modern model with a third ultra -i -exted pedal and developed with Lewis Hamilton could have a lot of sense financially for Ferrari.
