Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupe 2022, already an update

Three years after the start of its marketing, the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupé benefits from an update, which is already in the middle of the cycle of its first generation. On the menu, a new choice of rims, trim, exterior colors, a revised suspension and an exclusive edition.

It’s more this week that Mercedes-Benz unveiled the 2022 version of the Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupe equipped with V6 engine. So we know more about the version GT 53 4MATIC, which still leaves the mystery around the V8 engine versions, the GT 63 and GT 63 S.

For the first time in Canada, fans of exclusivity will be able to order the Edition model, which offers a little more, notably with the addition of a package emulating the style of the V8 engine versions. It also benefits from distinctive paintwork, 21-inch five-double-spoke rims, and an equally unique interior.

The Night set in a dark design has also been added, as has a new carbon fiber set.

Buyers will be able to opt for three new color choices; spectral blue metallic, spectral blue magno (matte finish) and cashmere white magno, also with a matte finish. The car also benefits from a new choice of 20-inch 10 double-spoke rims.

On board, all liveries benefit from a new AMG sports steering wheel including new driving mode selection controls. It is possible to opt for a variety of new colors and trims. It is still possible to personalize the cabin to your liking thanks to an even wider range of individual options.

The V6 mechanics remain unchanged. The GT 53 4MATIC + version retains its 3.0-liter in-line 6-cylinder engine which produces 429 horsepower for 384 lb-ft of torque. It continues to feature an electric auxiliary compressor while power is transmitted to all four wheels via an AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9-speed transmission.

AMG engineers also revised the car’s suspension. The AMG RIDE CONTROL + system now includes two pressure control valves, increasing speed of action and precision. The suspension has been reconfigured to increase comfort while providing superior support for more dynamic driving.

A first plug-in hybrid version

The 2022 Mercedes-AMG GT 4-door coupe will be available in Canada at the end of 2021. Pricing has not been disclosed, but a major hike is not expected. The 2021 version equipped with the V6 engine is currently offered for the base price of $119,800. The V8-powered version will join the ranks later, as will a new plug-in hybrid version, a first for AMG.
