Nissan GT-R gets 2024 overhaul and special edition
When we thought the end of the Nissan GT-R had arrived last year, Nissan had a surprise in store for admirers of the sports car. Indeed, let’s remember that in 2022 it was impossible to build a model via the manufacturer’s website, only the 2021 model was offered, after which it was removed from the manufacturer’s portfolio. On the other hand, the Nissan Canada website Now boasts the return of a 2023 version. However, this news doesn’t come alone as Nissan has just unveiled a revised Nissan GT-R for the 2024 model year.

More of an update than a major overhaul
At first glance, the 2024 Nissan GT-R remains easily recognizable. Most of the features of its predecessor are taken over. The aesthetic changes are mainly located at the front and rear, as well as the rear fenders of the car. These modifications will, according to the manufacturer, improve the aerodynamics of the car and, by the same token, the overall performance. Still in terms of aesthetics and performance, the version NISMO gets some tweaks and novelties for this new model year.
Always performance-oriented
Being the automaker’s flagship sports car, the GT-R is getting tweaked for 2024 to retain its title. Under the hood, the twin-turbo 3.8-liter V6 developing 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque is back, an engine still handcrafted by specialized technicians. The ATTESA ET-S all-wheel drive is still on the program, in order to transmit the power to the wheels, all thanks to the 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. To brake this car, Nissan opted for a braking system developed in partnership with Brembo.
For the first time, the NISMO version of the GT-R will benefit from a front limited-slip differential. Nissan claims it will improve the driving experience and feel behind the wheel. The NISMO’s engine gets a few changes to deliver 600 horsepower and 481 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 35 horsepower and 14 lb-ft of torque compared to the entry level. For its part, the body has several carbon fiber parts, allowing a reduction in weight, while lowering the center of gravity for better handling. Additionally, the NISMO gets carbon-ceramic brake discs.
The return of the GT-R T-spec
As for the versions available, we note the return of the Premium and the NISMO, without forgetting the addition of the special edition T-spec to the range. This version based on the Premium will bring some visual improvements, while borrowing some elements from the NISMO version. Among its improvements we note the carbon-ceramic brakes, as well as the dynamic control of the car borrowed from the GT-R NISMO. This version also inherits 20-inch wheels painted in a gold color and gets wider front fenders than the Premium. On board the T-spec we will find dark Mori Green color elements and a combination of suede upholstery for the front seats. The engine remains the same as the Premium version.
With the return of this version also comes the return of iconic colors for the model. The first color is “Millennium Jade”, which is a tribute to the GT-R R34 V-Spec II Nür. The second color available is “Midnight Purple”. The latter is inspired by the old Midnight Purple III which could be observed on the GT-R R34 V-Spec.
When will the complete overhaul
While several rumors are circulating that the next GT-R may feature some form of electrification, it looks like it will have to wait a few more years. For the moment, the Nissan GT-R 2024 is content with an update bringing only a few changes, without a complete overhaul to the model which has been present since 2009.
As of this writing, pricing for the updated 2024 Nissan GT-R has not been announced, but it is expected to arrive at select Nissan dealerships across Canada this spring, while the NISMO will arrive around summer. . We can therefore expect that the passage of the 2023 model, which sells for $140,608, will be brief.
