Pininfarina B95, an electric roadster that generates 1,900 horsepower

Bodybuilder Pininfarina took advantage of Monterey Car Week to present an electric car that could certainly make more than one dream. The famous Italian brand has unveiled the B95, an elegant roadster that Pininfarina describes as the first barchetta all-electric convertible in the world. We remember that the Italian brand presented, during the last Goodwood Festival of Speed, the Battista Edizione Nino Farina, a special edition of its Battista electric racing car which was based on the Rimac Nevera.

As you have probably already guessed, the “B” stands for Barchetta while the “95” will underline the 95e Pininfarina’s anniversary when the B95 goes into production in 2025. The car will be limited to just 10 hand-assembled and to the owner’s specifications. The base price will be 4.4 million euros (approximately 6.2 million Canadian dollars).

Like the Battista and Pura Vision, the B95 adopts the powertrain of the Rimac Nevera, the most powerful electric car in the world. Four electric motors (one per wheel) deploy a total power of 1,900 horsepower (1,400 kilowatts), which makes it possible to complete the 0 to 100 km/h in less than 2 seconds and to reach a maximum speed of more than 350 kilometers per hour. The driver can select one of 5 driving modes.

The other particularity of the B95 is that it has no roof. The two occupants can, however, counter the wind thanks to a unique adjustable windshield system. Inspired by the fighter planes of the era, the bubble-shaped transparent polycarbonate screens can be individually adjusted according to the preferences of each occupant.

Inside, Pininfarina opted for seats inspired by classic racing cars covered in beige leather stitched with contrast stitching. The fully digital dashboard with its 3 screens is reminiscent of that of the Battista.

Conclusion

Monterey Car Week has been the hotspot for everything that strikes the imagination in terms of opulence, exoticism and performance for years. The 2023 edition does not disappoint in this regard, and Pininfarina, to whom we owe the design of many Ferraris, surprises again with the B95. We also note that the transition to electric cars is well and truly underway, for all brands.
