Polestar O2 Convertible Concept: The Next Flagship Model
Although Polestar is slow to unveil its next model, the Polestar 3 SUV, it continues to progress by announcing a full range of electric models in the near future, including the Polestar 4 and 5. The manufacturer surprises us once again with its O-concept2 convertible that aims to become the manufacturer’s flagship model.
Being already a very environmentally conscious builder, Polestar would like the O2 projects its values in an even more assertive way than at the moment. The concept certainly emphasizes design, a tradition among car manufacturers of Swedish origin, but also on carbon neutrality and its ecological footprint.
An eco-responsible exotic
For example, this all-electric model, which looks like an exotic supercar, makes extensive use of aluminum to facilitate recycling. And the entire cabin is made of a single type of plastic, including even the seat padding, so that everything can be more easily melted down and then reused for other applications.
The two-seater type and equipped with a removable hardtop, the Polestar O concept2 displays the look of the Precept concept (which will become the Polestar 5), especially in its front part which demonstrates a stylistic direction much more modern and sophisticated than what the manufacturer currently offers. We are mainly moving away from the visual identity of Volvo, a good thing if Polestar intends to eventually stand out from its parent company.
Above all, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath would like the O2 becomes the “flagship of the company”, that is to say the one that incorporates the most recent advances in design and technology from the manufacturer.
All electric, but no data
Unlike the Polestar 1 it intends to replace, the O2 is not a plug-in hybrid model. It is an all-electric product, like all the rest of the future models that Polestar intends to add to its range.
Polestar hasn’t yet mentioned anything about its battery capacity or its power and torque figures, but it would be quite reasonable to assume that this superb Scandinavian speedster inherits the next electrical architecture from the Geely-Volvo group. . This would be able to receive a voltage of 800 volts and power electrical accessories. We could therefore expect a capacity of 103 usable kilowatt hours.
Finally, this concept comes with a drone. This can deploy when the vehicle is moving and would be protected by a windbreaker to prevent it from flying away. It could follow the vehicle up to a speed of 90 kilometers per hour and film you while driving. The video can then be viewed on the vehicle’s multimedia system and shared on social networks.
Obviously, everything is still only a dream concept, and it is unlikely that this drone will go over to the production model side. However, we are witnessing the future of electric exotic cars, and there is nothing boring about them!
