Porsche Canada sales exceed 10,000 vehicles for the first time

Several auto manufacturers saw their vehicle sales resume a certain pace in 2023 after two more difficult years marked by supply problems. Some have broken sales records; this was the case with Mitsubishi.

Porsche Canada also set a noteworthy record. The German brand, known for marketing sports cars and SUVs, announced that it sold 10,644 vehicles in Canada in 2023. This is the first time that the manufacturer has obtained sales statistics that exceed 10,000 vehicles in Canada.

In fact, this is an increase of 1,449 vehicles compared to 2002, during which the manufacturer sold 9,195 vehicles in the country.

“In addition to its record sales in Canada, the brand also achieved other milestones during the year and celebrated its 75e anniversary as well as the 60th anniversary of its iconic sports car, the 911, said John Cappella, President and CEO of Porsche Automobiles Canada Ltd. We are ready for another exciting year in 2024 marked by the arrival of several new vehicles and the opening of the Porsche Experience Center in Toronto. »

SUVs at the top of sales

At the top of sales, we find the Porsche Macan, the brand’s smallest and most affordable SUV. Porsche sold 3,907 domestically. The Porsche Cayenne ranks second in sales with 2,940 vehicles sold. The 911 range follows closely with 2,033 units, which is still excellent for a car. Curiously, the 718 Boxter stagnates at the bottom of the list with 280 vehicles sold, which is less than the 718 Cayman with 317 units sold.

Our opinion

Porsche was criticized many years ago for introducing SUVs into its lineup. It was an excellent decision since all the prestige vehicle manufacturers then followed suit. This decision allowed Porsche to subsequently increase its sales tenfold, but also to greatly improve its profitability. This allows it to continue to develop other exclusive cars.
