Porsche unveils the most powerful Cayenne ever, the Turbo E-Hybrid
It’s the same song with each renewal of a Porsche model: the variations are gradually released, from the most “ordinary” to the most efficient. This is precisely what happens with the 2024 Porsche Cayenne, a model that has undergone aesthetic changes and has received a completely redesigned interior. We already knew what made up the basic versions, S and E-Hybrid, but a fourth version has just joined the range and has become the most powerful ever created: the Turbo E-Hybrid.
It essentially takes up the positioning of the previous Turbo S E-Hybrid version. We therefore find under the hood a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces 591 horsepower, to which we have paired a 174-hp electric motor. This gives a total of 729 horsepower and 700 lb-ft of torque, figures that give the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, and a maximum speed of 295 km. /hour. An eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive are standard.
More power, but more weight
The power is therefore higher than that of the previous Turbo S E-Hybrid, which gave 690 horsepower, but also higher than that of the Turbo GT version offered in the Coupe body, which gives 650 horsepower. The 2024 Turbo E-Hybrid version is therefore the most powerful of the current Cayenne range, and the most powerful ever offered, without however being the fastest. Indeed, the Cayenne Coupé Turbo GT completes the 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, or 0.4 seconds faster than this more powerful version.
This performance slightly behind the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid 2024 can be explained by the fact that it is a plug-in hybrid version, equipped with a 25.9 kilowatt-hour battery positioned under the trunk of the vehicle and which increases the weight. Even if the manufacturer has not yet given the weight figures for this new version, the comparison of the weight of the E-Hybrid version and the basic version shows an overweight of more than 400 kilos (880 pounds) of the version hybrid.
The electric range has not yet been revealed for this specific version, but we already know that an 11 kilowatt on-board charger will recharge the battery in less than 2.5 hours, allowing you to get back on the road. quickly in electric mode.
Equipment and availability
Anyone familiar with the world of Porsche knows that the equipment is abundant, from the moment you choose options. These include Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active stabilization, four-wheel steering, 18-way seats and several styling options, all offered at an additional cost. Note, however, that this version of the Cayenne comes as standard with a two-chamber air suspension, with firmness selectable via the driving mode dial placed on the heated GT steering wheel. In addition, all trims feature matrix LED headlights, which can be replaced with HD matrix LED headlights that improve the quality of lighting.
The 2024 Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid will arrive during the second quarter of 2024 and will command a base price of $171,200 for the regular version, and $176,300 for the Coupe version.
