RAM is well known for marketing special editions of its pickup truck 1500, and the company continues this momentum with the introduction of the “EMS” (Emergency Medical Services) version. As its name suggests, this version pays tribute to the technicians Paramedics and it will arrive on Canadian soil during the last quarter of the year.
This EMS edition is the second in a saga of three special editions of the Ram 1500 geared towards first responders. The first, which paid tribute to firefighters, was announced in February of this year, and the third, which will pay tribute to police forces, should not be long in coming.
The EMS Edition features unique design cues, starting with two exterior color choices. Hydro blue is Ram’s color scheme for the unveiling of this pickup truck, while a crisp white can also be selected. Then, other exterior elements such as a black grille, black bumpers and 20-inch aluminum wheels with a Technical Gray finish are also in order.
Ram 1500 “Built to Serve” models are all equipped with the off-road package which includes Falken off-road tires, skid plates, heavy-duty front and rear shock absorbers, among others. The pickup is offered as standard, powered by a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine that develops 305 horsepower, while a more powerful 5.7-litre V8 is offered as an option (395 horsepower).
The cabin also incorporates elements exclusive to this EMS version, starting with customizable seats. Velcro-type ribbons are affixed laterally at shoulder height, allowing van users to affix their own badges, flags or the like. Then, the front seat backs are covered with PALS/MOLLE (Pouch Attachment Ladder System/Modular Lightweight Load-bearing Equipment) straps for attaching equipment or work pockets. Hydro blue stitching is also found throughout the cabin, regardless of the exterior color chosen.
The EMS Edition package can be added to the Big Horn Crew Cab version, and a starting price of $67,430 is advertised for this special edition.
