Sales and production of the Chevrolet Bolt resume
The Chevrolet Bolt EV and Bolt EUV have been hit with a major recall since August 2021. The good news is that the RPM team has learned that production and sales of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV will resume shortly.
The story made headlines for several weeks, a fault in the battery of the Chevrolet Bolt EV and EUV led to a major recall. The fault lies mainly with LG Chem, the company that supplies the batteries to GM, a defect in some batteries could cause a fire when recharging the battery, which was not to be taken lightly. This is one of the largest and most expensive recalls in automotive history related to its batteries.
Preferring to focus on replacing the batteries of models already sold, GM had stopped production of the Bolt EV and EUV launched just before the start of the recall. The good news is that we have learned that GM will resume production of the vehicles on April 4 at its Michigan plant.
Here is the official quote from the manufacturer:
“We appreciate the patience customers have shown throughout the recall. While continuing to complete module replacements, GM will resume production at its Orion Township, MI plant the week of April 4, 2022. We remain committed to the Bolt EV and EUV, and this decision will allow us to replace modules simultaneously battery life and soon resume retail sales, which were strong before the recall. »
The news comes at an opportune time since fuel prices have greatly increased interest in electric vehicles, the availability of which is unfortunately not there.
It is possible to order your 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EV on the GM website for the base price of $40,843 including freight and delivery charges. As for the 2022 Chevrolet Bolt EUV, it is priced at $42,348, again including fees.
