Some Tesla Cybertruck owners say it’s starting to rust

Automotive blogs and pages are full of interesting information. Powered by owners Tesla Cybertruck or by enthusiasts, the forums become relevant places where it is possible to collect data sometimes not communicated by the industry. The web log Cybertruck Owner has just exposed a problem linked to Tesla’s popular electric van. According to some users, the vehicle has the unfortunate tendency to rust in the rain.

Orange stainless steel?

A discussion forum user, who goes by the pseudonym Raxar, wrote on the platform that a company employee warned him that the rain could cause his new vehicle to rust. This user, who had just taken possession of his Cybertruck, explained: “The advisor specifically mentioned that the Cybertruck was developing orange rust marks in the rain which made it necessary to polish the vehicle. I’ve heard the story about never taking your Delorean out in the rain, but I just never read anything about rust and the Cybertruck. »

Another person, who goes by the pseudonym “vertigo3pc”, adds that they also noticed traces of similar rust on their vehicle, more specifically on the metal that rises above the Cybertruck platform. Corrosion was forming on the metal, as other people noted, prompting the user to document their point. “Vertigo3pc” adds that he took the van to a service point, and that it was washed, just to check that the corrosion was not grains of dirt.

This same user added that the employees on site already had a procedure and advice on how to repair the situation, but that they did not have the tools on hand and that they had never carried out this repair before. .

Does stainless steel rust?

According to some specialists, stainless steel is subject to rust in certain specific environments. Rust is caused by exposure to water, although it can also be caused by harmful chemicals, salt solution, grease, or prolonged exposure to heat.

This therefore means that it is perhaps not impossible that the Tesla Cybertruck is the victim of a premature rust problem. As usual, Tesla did not answer any questions from journalists and did not comment on the matter. It will be necessary to follow the situation with the current owners in order to validate the outcome of the story.
