Stellantis | Fiat begins production of its 500th

The first examples intended for the North American market of the Fiat 500e left the Mirafiori assembly line in Turin, Italy, last week. A first step which confirms the return to the country of Cinquecento by electrical means.

This 500th therefore becomes the most affordable electric car offered on the Canadian market with a starting bill of $39,995 without subtracting provincial ($7,000) and federal ($5,000) incentives.

In addition to its pretty face paying homage to the cult object born in 1957, it is barely 3.6 m long and drags a weight of 1,342 kg, which is fairly light for an electric vehicle. This allows the use of a small 118 hp electric motor which transmits its torque (162 lb-ft) to the front wheels.

Its range is ultimately limited, at 240 km, but its modest 42 kWh battery shortens charging times at a residential terminal (2 hours 15 minutes). It also offers the possibility of fast charging with a power of up to 85 kW. A unique proposition, in short, in a sea of large SUVs.
