While Stellantis recently took advantage of CES to unveil the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV Concept, the interpretation of its future electric pickup truck, the manufacturer has decided to take a new step in its electrification process.
It was within the framework of the Chicago Auto Show, a show that traditionally specializes in the pickup truck segment, that the manufacturer confirmed the official name of its first Ram 1500 electric batteries, in addition to revealing two photos that allow you to see the production model.
The electric full-size van will therefore be baptized Ram 1500 REVit seems that the manufacturer has decided to use only REV, the diminutive of “Revolution”, a term that it used in the name of its concept vehicle.
Two new pictures
Both photos show the grille and hood of the Ram 1500 REV as well as part of the headlights which, like those of the Ford Lightning, consist mainly of a strip of LEDs. The images show that the front is very similar to the concept presented recently. The hood also includes a raised section which receives the name REV on the side.
The Ram 1500 REV will therefore become the future competitor of the Ford F-150 Lightning already on sale and also of the Rivian R1T, GMC Hummer EV, Sierra EV and Chevrolet Silverado EV which will arrive shortly.
The model will be assembled on the STLA FRame architecture, one of the four platforms that will be used to develop the group’s future electric vehicles. No technical details have been revealed, but Stellantis mentions that the autonomy could be between 480 and 640 kilometers, which seems very optimistic to us.
The Ram 1500 REV should be officially unveiled in the coming months with new information expected to be unveiled on February 12, according to the manufacturer’s press release. Production of the Ram 1500 REV should officially begin next year if the manufacturer does not show any delays.
Conclusion
The Ford F-150 Lightning will soon have some competition, but production isn’t expected to start until 2024; it’s a safe bet that the new Ram 1500 REV will not be sold in Quebec until the end of next year and as a 2025 model.
