Stellantis: Ram 1500 assembly plant hit by strike; the manufacturer withdraws from several shows

Nothing is going well at Stellantis while the strike of auto workers members of the UAW (United Auto Workers) now affects Stellantis’ largest assembly plant in North America. This is the factory SHAP located in Sterling Heights, which produces the group’s largest and most profitable model, the pickup truck Ram 1500.

This strike will undoubtedly reduce production at Ram and could well affect the company’s profits if it continues. This announcement comes at a time when Stellantis has decided to cut certain important events from its calendar. According to the manufacturer, the ongoing UAW strike has already cost the company millions of dollars and caused significant disruptions in production and inventory management.

In order to limit the damage, we recently learned that the manufacturer has decided to withdraw from the CES (Consumer Electronics Show), which was to take place in Las Vegas next January. Stellantis has decided to withdraw from other major events to reduce expenses, including the SEMA show, which was to take place from October 31 to November 3, 2023.

As a result, some media are reporting that the manufacturer will also be absent from the Los Angeles Auto Show, undoubtedly the most important show to come.

As a result, the Los Angeles Auto Show will lose many important brands due to this decision by Stellantis. This includes Chrysler, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep and Ram.

Our opinion

Misfortune continues to befall certain manufacturers. After the pandemic and supply problems, collective agreement negotiations are added to the list of pitfalls for Ford, GM and Stellantis. The decision to withdraw is unfortunate for salon managers who still have to deal with the absence of important brands. Stellantis was absent from the Montreal Auto Show last year, everything suggests that the scenario could repeat itself this year.
