Subaru | A hybrid livery for the Forester

The second one of the most sold models in the Subaru catalog could well become even more popular. The Japanese manufacturer presented last week the very first hybrid livery of its compact Forester SUV as part of the Chicago Salon.

This new mechanics named E-Boxer is not surprisingly based on a 2.5 l flat-cylinder, but now operating according to a cycle of Atkinson, for efficiency. It receives an electric motor and an alternator-starter to reduce its fuel consumption. Unlike the hybrid Toyota Rav4 and Mazda CX-50 hybrid which uses a rear electric motor, this Forester retains a mechanical link between the rear differential and the front hybrid group to preserve the characteristics of its full cog.

The Subaru Forester Hybrid is driven by a 2.5 l four-cylinder supported by an alternator-starter and an electric motor to reduce its fuel consumption.

Subaru believes that these changes ensure a decrease in fuel consumption by around 25 % for an estimated average of 6.7/100 km. The total power is also increased, going to 194 hp, against 180 hp for the input -level declination of the SUVs.
