Each year, the site Tradingpedia does an analysis to determine which company has the highest value in the world. The study does not only target one area of activity, but rather covers all economic markets. Automakers are usually always among the top 10 multinationals with the highest values. However, this year, only one managed to take a position in the ranking. It is Tesla who picks up the honors, thus defeating Toyota which was part of the enviable list last year.
An increase of 43.90%
Tesla is at 9e position of the study with an estimated value of 66.21 billion US dollars. This sum allowed the company to overtake several well-known companies such as Starbucks, Home Depot or even the social network TikTok.
What is most notable about the data is the meteoric rise in brand value in 2023. Tesla generated an impressive increase of 43.9%, $20.2 billion, compared to 2022. According to the figures available, Tesla was the world’s most valuable automotive symbol in 2023, followed by Mercedes-Benz (valued at $58.8 billion), Toyota ($52.5 billion), BMW ($40.4 billion) and Porsche ($36.8 billion). Tesla also ranks 9e
in the international ranking of the 500 best brands for 2023.
Tesla champion in 2023, but not necessarily in 2024
The news is optimistic for the American manufacturer. The site Tradingpedia adds, however, that nothing is decided for 2024.
Indeed, Toyota, the largest automobile manufacturer in the world in terms of sales, is currently recording records for 2023 with 10 million Toyota and Lexus brand products sold worldwide. At the same time, Chinese manufacturer BYD overtook Tesla in battery electric vehicle sales in 4e quarter 2023.
For the whole of 2023, however, Tesla remains the market leader in the marketing of battery-only cars with 1.82 million EV sales in 2023 compared to 1.6 million for BYD. When it comes to the value of automakers, Tesla is currently considered the most valuable brand in the world, which remains impressive and encouraging for the next year.
The year 2024 will certainly be interesting to follow, with the emergence of the Chinese giant BYD which is increasingly likely to establish itself in North America. The manufacturer is now based in Mexico, which suggests that several disruptions could occur in the market.
