The Hyundai Ioniq 6 reconfirms the relevance of the electric car

The big boss of the French brand Citroën went there a few weeks ago with a prediction that was audacious to say the least: the SUV has already begun its decline.

To explain his reasoning, Vincent Cobée affirms that the undeniable advantage that traditional electric cars have in terms of autonomy over heavier and less aerodynamic SUVs will make them obsolete. Regardless of whether this happens or not, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric sedan confirms, with supporting range figures, the superiority of this type of bodywork for electrification purposes.

Revealing its estimated range data from the United States Environmental Protection Agency last week, the Korean brand officially stormed the Tesla Model 3. The most efficient version in this sense will be capable of to reach 581 km in the most favorable contexts; these are symbolic 5 km more than the American competitor in the Long Range version. That said, the Ioniq 6 relies solely on its rear-wheel drive to achieve this result, while Tesla relies on all-wheel drive.

Three liveries of the Ioniq 6 will be offered in Canada starting in the spring, namely the rear-wheel-drive Preferred – the one with the most kilometers – the all-wheel-drive Preferred which will have a range of 509 km and the Preferred equipped with the Ultimate package. , making the rims bigger from 18 to 20 inches and thus decreasing the radius of action to 435 km.

All Canadian variants will be entitled to the larger capacity battery, 77.4 kWh. The rear-drive Ioniq 6’s single engine will produce 225 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque while the twin-engine proposition bumps those numbers up to 320 hp and 446 lb-ft.
