Our current Ford Ranger, introduced in 2019, is actually the Australian version launched in 2016. We had to wait no less than 3 years before we saw the big comeback of the pickup truck. Judging by the sales figures, it was a good idea. As it has been marketed in Australia since 2016, it is normal that its revival goes through there as a priority. The new Ranger will arrive in the next year in the land of kiwis and in 2023 in North America.

Australian model but international
This is good news, since Ford’s Ranger is still an international product sold in over 180 countries. We don’t share all the engines, but the fundamentals are the same. The American manufacturer, through its Australian division, has unveiled a series of photos and a video featuring the 2023 Ranger during its endurance tests in different environments.
Tested everywhere
The environments tested are pretty standard for this type of vehicle: rocky terrain, steep areas, fords, extreme temperatures over 50 degrees and very cold temperatures. The tests were not only conducted in Australia, but all over the world, including North America and the Middle East. For desert driving alone, Ford claims to have driven more than 10,000 kilometers in the sand under a blazing sun.
Discovering weaknesses
Obviously, more engineering tests are needed to learn about and evaluate the durability of the chassis and platform, as well as the body’s response to these conditions. The goal is to stress the vehicle to discover any potential weaknesses over time. To date, the manufacturer claims to have driven the vehicle more than 1,250,000 kilometers on a regular road under different conditions: with or without a load, or in a towing situation with different masses. It has even covered 625,000 kilometers in extreme off-road conditions.
Not before 2023
Ford will officially unveil the 2023 Ranger by the end of 2021. If all goes well, it will be marketed first in Australia during 2022. Canada will receive its first units in 2023 as a 2024 model.
