The 2024 Acura ZDX could only be sold online
Honda seems to be realigning its priorities and rushing full speed into electrics, while revamping several aspects of its business. One of the big announcements among his projects was the one where Acura intend to sell the ZDX only online. It would not only be the first electric vehicle for Honda’s luxury division, but also a whole new way to market a vehicle for the automaker.
The details regarding the online marketing of the Acura ZDX are still unclear and Acura Canada preferred not to comment on its plans, but what we understand from this announcement which was made this week in the automotive media Motor1, is that Acura would have learned from consumer habits during the COVID-19 pandemic. The habits of shopping for a vehicle online have continued, affecting traffic in dealerships.
At Acura, we therefore thought that introducing its new electric SUV only online would signal the logical continuation of things. Acura would therefore follow a business model similar to that of Tesla, Polestar, Genesis (online and in dealerships) and VinFast. Acura dealerships will then service and repair the vehicles. Consumers will still be able to go to a dealership to obtain information or to take a test drive.
In fact, Acura would like to go in this direction for all its electric vehicles, even if it still hasn’t confirmed the arrival of other models other than the ZDX.
Scheduled for marketing in 2024, the Acura ZDX will borrow all of its technical components from General Motors. It would be the Ultium modular platform from the American giant. According to the latest rumors, Acura’s electric SUV will be built alongside the Cadillac Lyriq at GM’s plant in Springhill, Tennessee. A high-performance Type S version has even already been confirmed. We’ll get back to you with all the details as they become available.
