The 2024 Lexus GX is revealed, a little

Toyota Motor Corporation seems to appreciate the technique of mystery ads to unveil vehicles. Following Toyota’s numerous teasers on the 2024 Tacoma, it’s Lexus’ turn to tease motorists. After unveiling a few images of the 2024 TX earlier this week, Lexus is now sparingly unveiling its GX model. The manufacturer has just published two images of the next generation of the vehicle which allow to affirm that the Lexus GX 2024 will be renewed after almost 15 years of service in the same form.

A square style

The first images do not reveal a lot of information on the vehicle, but confirm that the Lexus GX 2024 will display a more ambitious style than the current version. Thanks to their new color, the hood and the fender towers of the vehicle appear square. These give off an impression of robustness usually attributed to off-road type vehicles. Matching the black grille, the headlights have also been revised. Stretched and integrated into the automaker’s swept-back design, the headlights resemble the high beams of the 2023 Lexus LX.

The other teaser reveals the rear lights. As they appear to run the full width of the vehicle, the lights also look, at first glance, like the taillights of the LX. The image also reveals that it will be quite possible to open the window without fully opening the tailgate. Indeed, the small handle integrated into the bezel just above the Lexus emblem seems to confirm that this feature will still be offered for 2024.

Very little information at the moment

At the time of writing these lines, the manufacturer has revealed little information. However, we can speculate and believe that this next generation of the Lexus GX will be assembled on the manufacturer’s TNGA-F platform. It is on this platform that the Toyota Land Cruiser, the Tundra and the Sequoia are based; it would therefore be logical to believe that the GX will also be based on this platform.

To continue the speculation, it would also be very likely that the 2024 GX will no longer be offered with a V8 engine. Since the automaker has turned to turbocharged V6 engines and hybrid powertrains for the Toyota Tundra, it would be natural to see such powertrains in the GX as well. Of course, there is no confirmation from Lexus that this is the case, but several echoes in the industry point in this direction.

It’s impossible to know when the 2024 Lexus GX will be officially unveiled. For now, we’ll be on the lookout for future mystery announcements because, if Lexus opts for the same unveiling strategy as Toyota, we’ll be treated to several teasers before the official launch.
