The 2024 Nissan Sentra gets a slight overhaul, the manual transmission remains offered

Since the beginning of its marketing in 1982, the Nissan Sentra competes in the segment of compact cars. While the current generation, the eighth, hit our roads in the 2020 model year, the car gets a slight redesign. There 2024 Nissan Sentra benefits from a redesigned design and improved fuel economy thanks to a new transmission.

The 2024 Nissan Sentra will be offered in three trim levels, S, SV and SR. It will be on sale from the end of the summer. Pricing has yet to be revealed, but for 2023 the car retails for a base price of $23,086 in S trim, with the manual transmission.

Style-wise, the car benefits from a new front fascia featuring a redesigned interpretation of Nissan’s V-grille, chromed for the occasion. The air intakes were moved to the outer edges of the car. As for the SV livery, it is entitled to new exclusive rims.

At the top of the range, the SR livery continues to play the role of the sportiest. It receives a grille with a dark chrome grille, the same treatment applies for certain other exterior finishing elements. The manufacturer also added SR emblems to the front and rear, in order to emphasize the model’s personality a little more. It can offer a two-tone body color with the option of pairing a black roof with the colors Aspen White, Monarch Orange Metallic, Electric Blue Metallic and the new Atlantic Grey.

A new CVT box

Under the hood, we still find the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that develops 149 horsepower and 146 lb-ft of torque. The manual transmission remains standard for the S version, it is also offered in the 2024 Sentra SR.

The great novelty for the 2024 Nissan Sentra is that it is equipped with a new Xtronic CVT transmission, designed to reduce fuel consumption while improving gear changes. The car is also equipped with a new automatic stop-start function included as standard.

Conclusion

Despite its decades of existence, the Nissan Sentra has never managed to establish itself in the compact car segment, a very competitive segment. However, it has always been distinguished by its attractive price and its good level of equipment.
