Introduced in 2018 as a 2019 model year, the Mazda3 of 4e generation continues to make its way into the automotive market. Its many variations and its abilities on the road have allowed the Japanese car to enjoy interesting success in Quebec. What’s more, the manufacturer has even allowed itself to make some modifications to the 4e
fourth generation. For the moment, only the model marketed in the Japanese market will benefit from the new elements, but it would not be surprising to see Mazda offer these updates arriving for the North American market.
A bigger screen and more technology
The centerpiece of this update targets the vehicle’s infotainment screen. For 2024, the Japanese model of the Mazda3 will get a 10.3-inch screen. This screen is 1.5 inches larger than what is currently on the market. Moreover, according to the information gathered, this new instrumentation injected into the 2024 Mazda3 is taken directly from the Mazda CX-50. However, it is not possible to know if the 10.3-inch display will be standard or offered as an option depending on the version chosen.
Along with the infotainment screen, Mazda is also upping the number of in-vehicle tech tools for the Japanese market. It will be possible to obtain wireless smartphone charging, backlit USB-C connections as well as access to the MyMazda mobile application.
This application will allow Japanese motorists to start the car’s engine remotely, install parental monitoring functions, such as a speed alert, and obtain precise driving data on user habits. The vehicle’s temperature can also be controlled remotely through the app. This function as well as that of the parental control are reserved only for the Mazda CX-90 on our market, at least, for the moment.
Enhanced security systems
Mazda’s Japanese press release also clarifies that the 2024 Mazda3 will be equipped with additional driver assistance systems. In Japan only for now, the vehicle will be offered with a driver attention monitor and a front and rear pedestrian detection system. To complete the information coming from Japan, the Mazda3 2024 will also be offered in a new color, ceramic metallic.
Impossible to know for the moment if the updates made on the Japanese model will also be offered on our market. Given that the upgrades keep the Mazda3 competitive in the niche, it wouldn’t be surprising to see much of the same tweaks in our market. However, we will have to wait for the official announcement from the manufacturer to confirm everything.
