The Mazda3 hit by a price increase in the United States

There Mazda3 of 4e generation continues to make its way. Renowned for its driving dynamism, the Mazda3 will return to the market in 2024 with a few changes. While no details are officially revealed for Canada, the Japanese compact car is seeing price adjustments in the US, and rumor has it that the 2-litre 4-cylinder engine will be dropped from the lineup in Canada.

Minor changes in the United States

The price of the Mazda3 2024 increases in the United States, regardless of the version chosen. For example, the entry-level sedan will now cost US$25,335, an increase of $1,620 over the 2023 model year. cross-traffic alert and a rear-seat verification system, the entry-level Mazda3 returns unchanged for 2024.

Mazda also unveiled a new version called Carbon Turbo (Suna, in Canada). This version is exclusive thanks to the Zircon sand body color, a black and brown interior, a new infotainment screen with 10.25-inch display integrating Apple CarPlay and Android Auto wirelessly as well as a charging station wireless for smart phone.

A major price increase expected in Canada?

This general price increase in the United States may indicate (no confirmation has yet been made) that our 2024 Mazda3 could see a major price increase soon.

For what? Simply because the Mazda3 south of the border is only offered with one of the automaker’s two 2.5-liter engines. The entry-level one therefore already cost more than the Canadian version of the vehicle, since, in Canada, the 2-litre engine is still offered in the range.

With 155 horsepower and 155 lb-ft of torque, the 2-litre 4-cylinder is popular on Quebec soil. Less fuel-hungry, it is rather flexible when accelerating. This engine is fitted to the entry-level versions of the model and makes it possible to make a more economical choice when purchasing. As the 2-litre engine can be mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, the Mazda 3 so equipped represents a dynamic and rational option in today’s market.

According to a rumor relayed by certain concessions in Quebec, the 2-litre engine could disappear from the range in the next year. This could then confirm that it would be the 2.5-liter block that would animate the entry-level version. If so, a substantial increase in the price of the Mazda3 is to be expected in 2024, at least, in the base version.

Nothing is confirmed yet, but significant changes seem to be on the horizon for the Mazda3 in Canada. We will remain on the lookout for developments. Full details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
