The new 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R will have 720 horsepower

It was last September, as part of the Detroit Auto Show, that the RPM team was able to discover the new 2024 Ford F-150, a fourteenth generation model which benefits from a slight mid-range redesign. -cycle. The big news is above all its new tailgate called “Pro Access Tailgate” which is added to the options offered. It can fold down like a classic tailgate, but it also includes a central section which acts as a hinged door.

We also learned that the 2024 Ford Raptor would be back in its regular version, introduced in 2009, and in its craziest version, Raptor R, a racing car introduced last year.

Ford had told us that it would push the power figures of the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R, it is now done since the manufacturer has just confirmed that its supercharged 5.2-liter V8 engine would develop an impressive 720 horsepower and 640 pound-feet of torque. That’s 20 horses more than last year. Ford emphasizes that the power increase is achieved through reduced air intake losses combined with optimized calibration, which also results in a wider torque curve.

These numbers make the 2024 F-150 Raptor R the most powerful and capable full-size off-road pickup truck ever designed to tackle sand and trails.

We will remember that the first Ford F-150 Raptor debuted 15 years ago and developed 310 horsepower thanks to its 5.4-liter V8 engine. A 411 horsepower variant from a 6.2 liter V8 engine was also later available. According to Ford, the new Raptor R continues the high-performance legacy of Baja desert racing-inspired trucks.

Some changes this year

In addition to its increased power, the Ford F-150 Raptor features a revised headlight design, a modular front bumper, as well as a new exterior color and redesigned graphics.

It also offers as an option new Fox shock absorbers incorporating a new rebound control, equipped with an all-terrain algorithm developed by Ford Performance. This allows the electronic suspension controls to adjust hundreds of times per second to adapt to changing terrain conditions.

Our opinion

Since its introduction in 2009, buyers flocked to the Ford F-150 Raptor, even if Ford did not expect such success. The manufacturer is adding more this year with the 720-horsepower Raptor R, a car that allows it to take back control in terms of power, a title it had been snatched away by the arrival of the 702-horsepower Ram 1500 TRX.
