Several months after its world debut, Hyundai introduced its North American-primed Sonata. In addition to a major styling overhaul, the midsize sedan also gains all-wheel drive, which could make it more desirable for a buyer tempted by an SUV.
For the most part, the redesign of the body focuses on the front which receives a long horizontal strip that acts as daytime running lights. It is completed by lighting integrated into the front bumper. The passenger compartment is not to be outdone with a large rectangular screen that houses both the instrumentation and the multimedia system.
The most important change, however, is observable in its underpinnings. It features all-wheel drive coupled with the standard mechanicals, a 2.5L four-cylinder. It therefore follows its cousin, the Kia K5, which is offered with all-wheel drive on some liveries. 2.5 L turbocharged four-cylinder and 2 L hybrid complete the portrait, which has not been technically detailed. On sale next winter.
