The Polestar 2 gets a price hike for 2024
Polestar 2 has not stopped evolving since it arrived in 2021. The arrival of new versions is moreover an element that has punctuated the history of this car. However, for 2024, it undergoes the biggest modification so far, with among other things a change in appearance on the outside, a change in technical configuration to prioritize propulsion and a larger battery capacity (two-wheel drive) . These modifications come with a small price increase, as the manufacturer has just revealed.
The version that undergoes the biggest change is without a doubt the one that acts as an entry-level model. For 2024, the Long Range Single Motor sees its battery capacity increase to 82 kilowatt hours due to the space freed up by the switch from traction to propulsion. In addition to a power gain of 68 horsepower, these changes grant an improved autonomy which reaches 515 kilometers according to the tests carried out by Polestar according to the EPA calculation cycle.
This is an 80 kilometer improvement over the 2023 Long Range Single Motor version. In addition, blind spot monitoring system, reverse automatic braking, parking sensors, 360 cameras degrees and auto-dimming mirrors are now included as standard.
This version is now priced at $57,450, including freight and PDI of $2,500. This is an increase of $1200 over the 2023 model year.
Four-wheel drive
The technical changes are less significant for the four-wheel drive version, named Long Range Dual Motor. It retains a battery of the same capacity as before, with 78 kilowatt hours available. The power is however increased to reach 421 horsepower, a gain of 13 horsepower compared to the 408 horsepower before. This increase comes with a new asynchronous motor on the rear axle, which increases autonomy to 444 kilometers, a gain of 26 kilometers. Moreover, it is now possible to disconnect the front motor to improve autonomy.
Also, for this declination, the Pilot set is now included as standard. This includes intelligent cruise control, automatic emergency braking, fog lamps, rear collision warning and lane keeping assist. The price for this version is now $65,450, including freight and preparation, an increase of $4,200.
The Performance option is still available for the two-engine version. This increases the power to 455 horsepower and adds adjustable suspensions and gold accents everywhere. The option is at $6750.
Finally, the Plus package, which includes a heat pump, a better sound system and a glass roof, among other things, is available at $3,000 for all versions.
There Polestar 2 2024 will arrive in August 2023. All trim levels are eligible for a total of $12,000 in rebates from the provincial and federal governments.
