The Polestar 2 offers itself a power boost in the cloud

As high-tech objects, the latest generation electric vehicles are undeniably similar to our smart phones thanks to their ability to constantly update themselves without the intervention of a technician and his toolbox. Polestar reconfirms this perception by giving its Polestar 2 a power injection without owners even going to the dealership.

The Swedish brand has been offering the ability to increase the power of twin-engine Polestar 2s remotely for a few days. This feature, offered at a cost of $1595, increases its cavalry from 408 hp to 476 hp. Torque increases less substantially, jumping 15 lb-ft to 502 lb-ft in the end.

This cloud modification lowers the 0-100 km/h to 4.42 s, according to the manufacturer. We do not specify whether this gain has an effect on the estimated 418 km autonomy of this Polestar 2. This should logically be the case, because more energy will be deployed when the two engines are used.
