The Audi e-tron has enjoyed some popularity in the Canadian market since its introduction in 2018, but there’s no denying it was ripe for a redesign, at least a partial one, to keep it up to date with competitors. This is where the Q8 e-tron 2024, which is something of a reworked e-tron with more range and a modernized style. At the dawn of its arrival in dealerships, its price is now known, and it is slightly higher than that of the old model.
While the previous Audi e-tron was offered in two versions, Progressiv and Technik, the new Q8 e-tron version is only offered in Progressiv version, to which the buyer can add a few option packages. Base price is $95,350, including nearly $3,000 in freight and delivery charges, an increase of just over $5,300 over the 2023 Audi e-tron 55 quattro Progressiv.
Same story for the Sportback version, which is only offered in the Progressiv variant. Its starting price is $98,800, up $6,250 from the outgoing model.
Both configurations can be equipped with several options, including the black optics package, the technology package including adaptive cruise control, the upper package with Valcona leather seats with massage, the trailer hitch for a capacity of 1 800 kg and a Bang & Olufsen 3 D audio system. The maximum price reaches $118,440 once a Q8 Sportback is fully equipped.
Note however that the SQ8 e-tron version, more efficient with three engines that spit out a total of 503 horsepower, is not yet available on the brand’s Canadian configurator. It is therefore not possible to know its starting price for the moment.
Increased autonomy
This price increase for each of the versions is not in vain. The biggest improvement concerns the approved autonomy of the vehicle, which goes from 364 to 459 kilometers in the case of the regular version, and from 362 to 476 kilometers in the case of the Sportback version. This is an increase of 26% and 31% respectively. This range comes from a larger capacity lithium-ion battery than before. It now reaches 114 kilowatt-hours (106 usable), compared to the 95 kilowatt-hour (86.5 usable) battery previously offered. This battery can accept 170 kilowatts of maximum charging power and allows you to go from 10 to 80% autonomy in 31 minutes using an appropriate fast charging station.
All 2024 Audi Q8 e-tron 55 quattro will have mechanics similar to what was found under the hood of the old e-tron. The total power delivered by the two asynchronous electric motors reaches 402 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque, when the “Boost” mode is engaged. This allows acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds in the case of the Sportback version. In normal mode, with the power of 355 horsepower, 6.6 seconds are needed to reach 100 kilometers per hour from a standstill.
According to information provided by Audi Canada, the Audi Q8 e-tron 55 quattro will arrive at brand dealerships next May.
