Toyota sells the 50 millionth Corolla
It was last July that the calculation of the sales of the Toyota corolla has reached the emblematic number of 50 millions copies sold around the world.
Globally, the Toyota corolla outperforms the Ford F-150, the Volkswagen Golf and, twice, the Volkswagen Beetle. No other vehicle can claim to have been produced and sold more than 50 million copies.

Deep roots
Produced since 1966, the Corolla has always touted itself as a popular and affordable car. In this regard, after its Canadian launch in 1969, the Corolla has since sold some 1.6 million copies here. In Quebec, year after year, between 12,000 and 15,000 Corollas find buyers. To this, it can be noted that the Corolla was assembled in Canada for over 25 years at Toyota’s facilities in Cambridge, Ontario.
Worldwide
What were the keys to the success of the Corolla? There are several factors that explain this great popularity. The format and prices are obviously in the foreground, but also the number of versions available over time. We must also add the fact that there are several Corollas in the world. The North American Corolla has not always been the same one the manufacturer released in Europe, Asia or Australia.
Always up to date
Of course, the Corolla name has been around since 1966, and there are now no less than 12 different generations, just for North America. Product diversity helps the manufacturer attract even more buyers, and the Corolla has constantly adapted. For example, the 2022 range of the Corolla includes the traditional sedan, the hybrid as well as the hatchback version; and we will discover for the first time the Corolla Cross, a subcompact SUV. Even the legendary Corolla will not have resisted the temptation of SUVs.
