Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro 2022: new suspension and color

Even if it appears old and rudimentary, the Toyota tacoma remains a safe bet in the mid-size pickup truck category due to its impeccable reliability record and rock-solid resale value. The TRD Pro version is also a good choice for off-road enthusiasts. For the 2022 model year, the declination receives some improvements.

Since all TRD Pro’s receive a theme color year after year, Toyota is introducing Electric Lime Green. Recall that the theme color for the Tacoma TRD Pro in 2021 was lunar rock, which is now offered for the Trail version, which will receive a higher suspension for 2022.

Although Toyota has not yet confirmed anything in this chapter, everything suggests that the other models in the TRD Pro range, namely the 4Runner, the Tundra and the Sequoia, will also be entitled to this new color.

In addition to the color and some new body badges, it is mainly the suspension elements and the tires that change. Still equipped with Fox brand shocks, the van sees its ground clearance rise by 38 millimeters on the front axle and 12.7 mm on the rear axle, which increases the approach and flight angles by 1 , 4 and 0.8 degrees respectively.

Toyota also revised the angle of the ball joint supports so that the van can better handle jumps. The upper control arms are now made of aluminum. New Goodyear Territory off-road tires are also featured, along with new 16-inch rims.

Nothing changes under the hood of the Tacoma TRD Pro. So we’re still dealing with a 3.5-liter V6 with 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. This engine can be paired with a 6-speed automatic or manual transmission.

Toyota has so far only presented this model on the US side, so no Canadian pricing has yet been confirmed. The manufacturer will announce this information in the coming weeks. However, we could expect a price scale comparable to the current model, around $ 60,000.
