VinFast quietly discloses the entry price of VF 8 and VF 9
VinFast is preparing to enter the country in the coming months with two sport utility vehicles (SUVs). As detailed previously, the VF 8 and VF 9 will be the first two electric SUVs to land before other models, as detailed at CES which took place last January, show up. However, the entry-level prices for these two SUVs have been discreetly revealed on the manufacturer’s website.
The smaller of the two, the VinFast VF 8, will be a compact SUV with an initial bill starting at $51,250 for the entry-level Eco version. As for the VinFast VF 9, a midsize SUV with three rows of seats, its starting price will be $69,750, a significantly higher bill that corresponds to the higher position in the range.
However, you have to read the small print that is present at the bottom of the manufacturer’s website. These prices, subject to change, do not include battery service subscription, driver assistance systems and connected services. It is therefore to be expected that the final prices will be higher once all these services, whose invoice has not been specified, are included.
The 2,022 people who book first at the reimbursable cost of $250 via the manufacturer’s website and who will thereby be part of the VinFirst program, will be given an electronic ticket (e-Voucher) in the amount of 3 $500 for the VF 8 or $6,000 for the VF 9, an amount that can be applied to the eventual purchase of the vehicle. Other incentives are also offered to encourage consumers to place a reservation, which shows the aggressiveness with which this Vietnamese manufacturer wants to conquer the Canadian market.
Autonomy and equipment
Some details about the autonomy and power of the two models are also present on the website. It looks like both vehicles will feature two electric motors that will deliver a total output of 300 kilowatts (402 horsepower) and peak torque will reach 472 lb-ft. The estimated range will be 504 km for the VF 8 and 550 km for the VF 9, figures which are calculated according to the optimistic WLTP cycle. According to the EPA cycle approved for our market, the data should be lower. The battery capacity used as well as the average consumption are not disclosed.
In addition, these vehicles will be equipped with 11 airbags, which should allow them, according to the manufacturer, to meet the highest standards in terms of occupant protection. Finally, connected services, including remote control via mobile device and video games, as well as driving assistance, including lane tracking, automated remote parking and more, will be offered as options.
No indication as to the possible delivery date has been confirmed by the manufacturer.
