Volkswagen introduces the 2023 Golf GTI 40th Anniversary Edition
To celebrate 40 years of its Golf GTI, volkswagen introduces this year a new version of its small sports car. The Volkswagen Golf GTI edition 40e Anniversary 2023 marks the four decades of existence of the model, a car that will have made many young car enthusiasts dream.
Originally known as the Rabbit GTI when it was introduced in 1983, the Volkswagen Golf GTI was a major contributor to the popularity of compact sports cars in the 1980s and 1990s. The Volkswagen Golf GTI edition 40e Anniversary 2023 will be offered in four exterior colors including Urano Gray and Tornado Red which are exclusive to the 40th Anniversary edition. The colors Oryx White Pearl and Pomelo Yellow Metallic complete the choice. Another exclusivity, the roof painted in black.
Inside, there is an exclusive steering wheel that includes a red ’40’ stripe placed at the six o’clock position, commemorating the history of the GTI. This exclusive edition also receives unique fabric seats and a gear lever knob featuring the classic “golf ball” design.
As for the rest of the range Golf GTI 2023, the 40th Anniversary Edition is powered by a 2-litre turbocharged engine that develops 241 horsepower and produces 273 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed DSG automatic.
The 500 Canadian copies are now on sale at a price of $36,995 for the manual transmission version and $38,395 for the one equipped with the dual-clutch transmission.
