Volskwagen | ID.7 will not cross the Atlantic

A sign that the status of the electric car is particularly volatile since the coming to power of Donald Trump in the United States, Volkswagen has decided not to offer its ID.7 model in North America. The electric intermediate sedan will therefore not cross the Atlantic to grow the manufacturer's electric footprint in Canada and the United States.

The news, boiled by the Auto guide and reconfirmed by Automotive Newsputs an end to several months of uncertainty surrounding this model.

Questioned by Automotive News To justify this decision, a brand representative showed “the difficult context surrounding electric vehicles”. Some American dealers had also expressed their concerns surrounding the possible price range of this new model which was to be offered in propulsion livery (282 hp) and full cog (335 hp).

Its sedan body would also have logically allowed better autonomy than the multisegment ID.4 from which it technically derives, an added value from which Canadian consumers cannot benefit.
