Volvo | XC90 gets makeover to hide its wrinkles
A model that has been forgotten due to its apparent stagnation for many years, the XC90 midsize SUV is getting a major update for 2025. Volvo wants to make it attractive alongside its electric brother, the EX90.
Basically speaking, this XC90 keeps the same mechanics, namely 2L turbocharged four-cylinders whose power varies between 295 hp and 455 hp depending on whether or not you choose the plug-in option. The latter can also travel 53 km in electric mode thanks to an 18.8 kWh battery.
The body sports a redesigned fascia with slimmer headlights. The cabin retains a sleek dashboard while reconfiguring the storage spaces as well as the positioning of the wireless charging, which was rather problematic. It finally receives a completely reworked Android infotainment system displayed by a larger touchscreen (11.2 inches).
Finally, the engineers reworked the suspension elements for comfort, keeping the double wishbone at the front and the rear integral arm with optional air springs.
Production of the new Volvo XC90 will begin at the end of the year.
